-Version 2.0.1 fixes a bug that would not allow you to restore a hidden folder. You can now drag hidden folders from the Find File window onto the Ghost application to restore them. See below for instructions on locating hidden folders on your hard disk.

What is it?
Ghost is a file-hiding utility. Use it to protect and hide important files on your hard disk.
What is it not?
Ghost is not an encryption program. It leaves the contents of a file untouched.
Ghost is not a compression utility. Hiding files on your hard disk does not save disk space.
How do I use it?
To protect and hide a file, drag the file's icon on top of the Ghost 2.0 icon. The file will instantly disappear.
To restore a hidden file, follow these instructions:
To locate hidden files:
1. Open the Find File application (type command-F).
2. While holding option, click and hold the name pop-up menu.
3. Select visibility. (Make sure it is set to "is invisible".)
4. Click the More Choices button.
5. Select creator from the second name pop-up menu.
6. Type GHST into the creator field.
7. Click find.
To locate hidden applications:
1. Open the Find File application (type command-F).

3. Select visibility. (Make sure it is set to "is invisible".)
4. Click the More Choices button.
5. Select file type from the second name pop-up menu.

This will show a list of hidden files on your hard disk that were hidden with the Ghost application.
To restore a hidden file, drag the file from the find window onto the Ghost 2.0 icon.
The file will reappear in the same location it was in before being hidden.

What kind of files can I hide with Ghost 2.0.1?
Ghost 2 can handle all file types. It has a built-in list of common file types but can also hide any type of file, including applications and folders. The built-in file types are:
APPL (Application)
TEXT (Text document)
ttro (TeachText Read-Only)
PICT (Standard Macintosh picture)
JPEG (JPEG image)
GIFf (GIF image)
New Additions:
MooV (Quicktime movie)
When a file is hidden and restored, the restored file has the original file type, but its creator is gone. This shouldn't be too much of a problem since Macintosh Easy Open should give you a list of compatible applications. However this might not be the case with certain files such as game data. You may want to remember the original creator as well.
Do I still need FileTyper to use Ghost 2?
No. FileTyper is no longer required, but I do suggest you keep a copy on your hard disk (or floppy). You never know when you may need it. Also, you will need FileTyper if you wish to manually change anything about the file, such as the creator.
Ghost 2.0.1 is based on AutoTyper, part of the FileTyper suite by Daniel Azuma.
Does this program cost anything?
No. Ghost 2.0.1 is freeware. You may use it all you like. Although, if you yourself are a Macintosh developer, I would appreciate it if you would give me a registration code to one of your shareware products. This wouldn't cost you anything, and we'd both benefit.
Is this program supported?
I'll try to help with any problems you might have with Ghost 2.0.1, but I can't be held responsible for any damage that might occur. Use at your own risk.
